OBRA donates $10.00 for each pair of sneakers sold on oobbrraa.com

Built into the OBRA business plan is a commitment to redistribute a share of OBRA revenues to non-profit organizations focused on arts, education and/or civil liberties within local inner-city youth communities. In practice, in 2018, this equals to a $10.00 donation for each pair of shoe sold on our website to Red Hook Labs.

The Red Hook Labs School is a nonprofit dedicated to initiating community programs in partnership with local public schools and community centers. The school also offers workshops in fashion photography for emerging artists instructed by leading industry talent.

"There was also a personal need to counter the toxic social rhetoric and negative news making headlines today. So with a new business came also the opportunity for a new business plan, a business plan with built-in positive local social impact. That's what we set out to do with OBRA."

RED HOOK LABS COMMUNITY PROGRAMS
Red Hook Labs Education and Jobs Initiative, a 501(c)(3) joint venture with The Point Community Development Corporation, provides a comprehensive photography program linking year-round education, meaningful employment opportunities, and mentoring for local public high school students at Red Hook Labs, Brooklyn and at its newest studio, Downtown Labs, in Downtown Los Angeles. Labs works in partnership with well-established public schools and community centers to ensure cohesive, local support. Our mission is to create centers that provide high-caliber photography arts education to teens and young adults who would otherwise have no exposure to it, to materially advance their skills and access to job opportunities that can allow for long-term success, and demonstrably make a positive impact on the local community.
